Disability Pride Month in July is a reminder that access, visibility, and joy belong to everyone. For our Ride A WAV community and anyone looking to celebrate, here are Disability Pride Month events happening in July 2025 across NYC, Westchester, and Long Island, ensuring you can join safely, comfortably, and on time.

What Is Disability Pride Month?
Disability Pride Month commemorates the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) on July 26, 1990, celebrating the disability community’s achievements, culture, and contributions. It’s a time to raise awareness, encourage conversations around accessibility, and celebrate the diverse identities within the community.

Where: Naumburg Bandshell, Central Park
Time: 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM (in‑person); continues virtually after 4 PM
Details: Celebrate the 35th anniversary of the ADA with music, panels, interactive sessions, and 45+ community booths. Hybrid format allows virtual participation with full access accommodations

Where : 6:00 PM ET /Offsite Program: CUSP at NYU Tandon 370 Jay Street, Rm. 1201 in Downtown Brooklyn
Time: 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM/Doors open 5:45 PM ET
Details: Hosted by the NY Transit Museum and MTA Accessibility, this free in-person and virtual panel discusses the MTA’s accessibility improvements and future plans, marking the ADA anniversary.

Where: Fort Washington Library, 535 W 179th St, New York, NY 10033
Time: 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM
Details: Celebrate Disability Pride Month by sampling books that highlight disability stories and voices. Browse excerpts or flip through titles to discover your next great read. Free and open to all book lovers—bon appétit!

Where: Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, Pier 86, W 46th St & 12th Ave, New York, NY 10036
Time: 8:30 AM – 11:00 AM
Details: A sensory-friendly morning for children (ages 3–18) with autism or sensory sensitivities and their families to explore the Intrepid before public hours. Includes sensory bags, a social narrative to prepare for the visit, hands-on art, educator stations, and a calm, welcoming environment. Free with registration.

Where: Soundview Park, Lafayette Ave & Colgate Ave, Bronx, NY 10473
Time: 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM
Details: Celebrate Disability Pride Month with a relaxing, guided stroll along an ADA-accessible trail led by NYC Urban Park Rangers. Discover the plants and wildlife that call Soundview Park home while enjoying fresh air and community connection.
When: July 23, 2025
Where: Bronx Library Center Teen Zone, 310 E Kingsbridge Rd, Bronx, NY 10458
Time: 3:00 PM – 4:30 PM
Details: In honor of Disability Pride Month, teens will create posters with bold designs and memorable slogans to celebrate and bring awareness to the disability community. All materials provided, free, and open to ages 13–18.

Where: Jerome Park Library, 118 Eames Place, Bronx, NY 10468
Time: 2:00 PM – 4:30 PM
Details: Celebrate Disability Pride Month with a free screening of The Peanut Butter Falcon, an uplifting story about Zak, a young man with Down syndrome chasing his wrestling dreams. Light refreshments will be served, followed by a brief discussion.

Where: Michaelian Office Building, Main Lobby, 148 Martine Ave, White Plains, NY 10601
Details: Join County Executive Ken Jenkins and the Board of Legislators to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the ADA. This community gathering highlights the importance of inclusion and accessibility across the county. Free—RSVP by July 17.
